Meetings Industry Day

National Meetings Industry Day

After Edmonton, MPI’s Canadian Council folded the idea into National Meetings Industry Day. For roughly two decades Canadian chapters used the same season to brief local media, invite a mayor and remind members that the field had a civic face. Calgary chapter notes still mention an MPI RISE Award in 2013 for that national programme.

Canadian chapters often keep April. That habit survived the later North American and global labels. A planner in Calgary may still walk into an April room while a global stream is advertised for late March. Both can be true in the same year.

NMID is the middle layer of the story: larger than one chapter, smaller than a U.S. Travel coalition. Without it NAMID and GMID have no Canadian spine.
